In honor of National Poetry Month in April, the Galion Public Library will hold its 6th Annual Poetry Contest. The library encouraged poets aged 18 years and older to submit an original poem for a chance to win this popular contest.

Submissions may be dropped off at the Galion Public Library, 123 N. Market St., during library hours between Monday, April 20 and Saturday, April 25.

Each poet will be permitted to enter only one poem for the judges’ consideration.

Submitted poetry must be:
1) an original creation of the submitter,
2) typewritten,
3) no more than 40 lines in length,
4) never previously published.

Poems will be put up for patron judging in the library starting Monday, April 27 and then end Friday, May 1 at 3 p.m.

Winners will be announced by Friday, May 1s. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place poems. Winning poems will also be displayed at the library and on its web site.
