The ongoing problems with the downtown theater in Bucyrus are now creating a ripple effect.

Bratwurst Festival Director Larry West confirmed that the festival will be moving the Warren Street stage from its traditional location to West Rensselaer Street. The kiddie rides that had been in that location last year will be moved down to West Warren Street.

The downtown Bucyrus Community Theater had been roped off during last year’s Bratwurst Festival but the problem has escalated recently. A large section of the theater’s south wall fell in last week and Bucyrus Mayor Roger Moore said that steps are being taken to ensure the public’s safety.

Efforts by a group of local people to restore the former theater fell through earlier this year when they announced that they could not raise the amount of funds that was needed to save the building. The group, along with the city, is now looking for additional funds to tear the building down.
