BUCYRUS—The family of homicide victim Sean Cassaro released the following statement to Crawford County Now on Wednesday, January 25, 2023:
On behalf Sean Cassaro’s family,
We would like to thank the community for its outpouring of support at this extremely difficult time.
We would also like to thank the Bucyrus Police Department for investigating Sean’s death and taking quick action in making an arrest. We greatly appreciate all of the kind words expressed by our community, and it shows how loved Sean was among his family and friends.
Sean loved to ride his motorcycle and made many friends on his rides, and earned the nickname Ironman from his fellow bikers. He rode around 30,000 miles per year while working a full-time job. He didn’t care as long as he could get some wind therapy. Sean always had a smile on his face everywhere he went and was quick to crack a joke. He had a personality as large as life itself and lit up any room he went into. He had a heart of gold and would give away his last dollar to help someone in need. Sean loved his 3 children very much, and they were his greatest motivation.
Not having him around has left a large and empty void in our lives.
We are deeply saddened and devasted by the loss of Sean. He was a loving father, son, brother, and uncle. There have been lots of speculations and rumors. What we know for sure is that Sean was taken from us.
There are lots of unanswered questions that we have regarding Sean’s death, and after the facts are presented, hopefully, the appropriate parties will be held accountable for their actions.
In closing, we ask that Sean be remembered for who he truly was.
We ask that people refrain from speculations and rumors and let the facts speak for this case. We are hoping to see justice for Sean’s death. A go fund me account has been made in his name, any and all support is greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Sincerely,
Timothy Holt (brother)
Sean’s obituary was released today (January 26, 2023) from Wise Funeral Service.
Sean R. Cassaro, 46, took his last motorcycle ride to heaven early Sunday, January 22, 2023.
He was born September 30, 1976 in Bucyrus to the late Raymond F. Cassaro and Connie (Dicks) Cassaro who survives. He went to school at Holy Trinity School and Bucyrus High School where he was the captain of the football team and graduated in 1995. He then earned his Associates Degree in Engineering from Marion Technical College. Sean worked for the City of Bucyrus for 17 years and was currently employed by Asplundh Tree Service.
Sean will be remembered for his huge smile, being a friend to many, and never meeting a stranger. He had two great loves: his daughters and the “wind therapy” he got from riding his motorcycle. He was witty, fun, smart, and many would say the best “Lead” when riding in groups. His girls were very important to him, and he attended every one of their events and activities that he could. In addition to riding, Sean also loved being outdoors hunting or fishing. He and his father loved competing for the biggest catch whether ice fishing in the winter or out on their boat on Lake Erie. Sean was a member of the Moose Lodge and Sons of the American Legion.
Sean is survived by his daughters, Elle, Eden, and Eva; mother, Connie; siblings, Michelle (Ken) Perry, Charlie Frazier, Doug Holt, and Tim Holt; along with many extended family. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by sister, Yvonne Newcome.
Services will be held on Sunday, January 29 at Wise Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 1-3:55 pm and the funeral will begin at 4:00 pm. Sean will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions benefitting Sean’s daughters are appreciated. Checks can be made payable to “Cassaro Children Trust” and given through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on Sean’s tribute page at wisefuneral.com.
