BUCYRUS — The Bucyrus Police Department will once again be taking part in the National Night Out (NNO) event

This year’s date is Tuesday, August 2. Given the large number of block parties held in the past, the department is asking the community to complete and turn in their packets as early as possible. Early response ensures that barricades are distributed to protect participants’ block party and that special guests can be scheduled.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts. NNO also strengthens neighborhood spirit, as well as police/community partnerships. It sends a message to criminals, letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Anyone interested in hosting a neighborhood block party can stop at the Bucyrus Police Department to pick up an application, or call (419) 562-1006.
