MARION — Chadwick Greenawalt, 44, of Marion was arraigned in Marion County Common Pleas Court on Monday.
Greenawalt was charged with one count of voluntary manslaughter and one count of involuntary manslaughter, both first-degree felonies punishable with up to life in prison.
Voluntary manslaughter is intentionally killing another person in the heat of passion and in response to adequate provocation. Involuntary manslaughter is negligently causing the death of another person.
Greenawalt also faces one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony punishable with up to 11 years in prison.
Greenawalt is accused of stabbing and killing Natalie H. Rudd, 42, Marion, during an altercation that was reported at 2:33 a.m. on Sunday, July 3 at River Bend Family Campground near Caledonia.
Marion County Common Pleas Court Magistrate Matthew Frericks entered a not guilty plea for Greenawalt. He has retained Marion attorney Joel Spitzer to represent him. Frericks set bond at $500,000.
