The Central Joint Ambulance District met again on Wednesday evening and the contract with LifeStar was back on the agenda.
The board took into consideration the City of Bucyrus’ decision to agree on a three-year contract, but decided to stick with the one-year deal approved at last month’s meeting. There were many considerations to analyze such as Medicare’s new guidelines, the decision by Bucyrus City Council to approve a three-year contract, the law director’s input, and Life Star’s corporate restructuring which all weighed in on the outcome of subsidy’s, as well as possible bids for another company.
Bucyrus representative, Service/Safety Director Jeff Wagner had to abstain from his vote only because he there is legislation in progress for a three-year contract renewal using LifeStar derived from the last meeting’s request. Wagner will have to take the one-year renewal back to committee and then through the Bucyrus City Council to change the three-year approval to one year per LifeStar and the CJAD.
The new LifeStar supervisor for Crawford County, Cory Wright, was introduced at Wednesday’s meeting. Wright reported LifeStar answered 189 9-1-1 calls in June.
