The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that it has taken another report concerning a scam.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a Crawford County resident reported that he had received a call from a company that said it had overdrawn his account on his magazine subscription. When the caller advised that he had had this magazine subscription for a number of years, the company explained that it had overdrawn his account by $129.29 and it wanted to refund his money back to his credit card.

According to the caller, the company knew his credit card name and number. The caller confirmed the number and, once the company came back on the line, it stated that the refund was not going through on that credit card. The company then requested that the caller supply them with another credit card number to try. When the caller refused to provide the information, the company hung up on him.

Noticing that the call was a possible scam, the caller called his credit card company to confirm. The credit card company stated agreed that it sounded like a scam and cancelled that card.
