Two people were injured Thursday evening when the vehicle they were in went off the road, rolled over and caught fire.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office has reported that 18-year-old Todd Laferty of Tiro was driving a car on Tiro Corporation Road north of Hilbourne Avenue just after 7 o’clock Thursday evening when he lost control of the car. The car, a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, went off the road and hit a fence and two rocks before it flipped over in a field and caught fire.

Laferty was flown by medical helicopter to Ohio State University Medical Center for treatment. His passenger, a 14-year-old boy, was treated for his injuries at Galion Community Hospital and released.

The crash remains under investigation but authorities do not suspect that alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident.
