Charles L. Wurm, 76, of rural Bucyrus passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, November 25th, 2021, after a fifteen-month battle with cancer.
Charles was born January 23rd, 1945 in Bucyrus to the late Albert Wurm and Hazel (Bigler) Wurm Ziegler. He enjoyed trying to confuse the clinical team when asked for his birth date, by replying simply “1-2-3-4-5.” Often times it worked and he was pleased.
He was married June 22, 1969, to Ramona (Rhoden) Wurm who preceded him in death on November 12th, 2013.
Charles was also preceded in death by brothers James and John; brother-in-laws Joel Butterman, Douglas “Doug” Gatchell, and Norman Haldeman, as well as sister-in-law Elizabeth Wurm.
Charles is survived by children, Charla Wurm-Adams, Bucyrus; Charles (Christal) Wurm, Taipei, Taiwan; Sonja (Kevin) Biglin, Bucyrus; Robert (Ellen) Wurm, Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Malachi Israel, Princeton Wurm, Samuel Webb, Elias Biglin, all of Bucyrus; Mya Wurm, Isla Wurm, Fiona Wurm, Eden Calkins, all of Green Bay, WI; sisters Betty Haldeman, Dolly Butterman, Patricia “Patty” Burling, Brenda (Kenneth “Kenny”) Lawson, all of Bucyrus; Julie Gatchell, Santa Ana, CA; and Joyce (Tom) Fleury, Murrysville, PA; sister-in-law, Deborah “Debbie” Wurm, Bucyrus; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Charles was a lifelong resident of Bucyrus. After graduation from Bucyrus High School in 1964, he served in the Army during Vietnam. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic church. He was one of the original members of the Eliminators Car Club. He made a career in construction, retiring in 2007 from Wurm Brothers. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, watching movies, hunting, and fishing. His family meant more to him than anything. He loved helping people and performing random acts of kindness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Paul Fahrbach as Celebrant. The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:45 pm. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
