BUCYRUS—Two men were arraigned via video from the Crawford County Justice Center on Tuesday amid allegations of community control violations and bond violations.

Trenton Davis, 46, of Bucyrus, was placed on community control after pleading guilty to possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison.
According to probation officer Jeremy Clay, on October 4, Davis possessed and discharged a firearm in a vehicle, possessed a dangerous sawed-off shotgun, had ammunition for a 16 gauge shotgun, and had contact with a known felon Adam Mahley. When taken to the Crawford County Jail, it is alleged Davis refused a drug test and signed a refusal to test document.
Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold entered a denial on Davis’ behalf and ordered the matter set for a full hearing. He appointed attorney Joel Spitzer to represent him.
Judge Leuthold listened to arguments on bond.
Assistant Prosecutor Ryan Hoovler asked for a high cash bond. He noted that Davis refused a drug test and discharged a firearm at another human being. Hoovler said the behaviors involved in the altercation were indicative of methamphetamine use. Hoovler said the matter is still under investigation and could result in new charges.
Attorney Andrew Motter, present to argue bond, told the court that Davis is a lifelong resident who is disabled with minimal financial resources.
Judge Leuthold took the allegations into consideration, such as the allegations that a Davis shot the gun at Mahley but instead hit the vehicle, Davis committed the alleged violations while on probation, refused a drug test, and faces new potential first, second, and third-degree felony charges as a result of this incident. He set Davis’ bond at $150,000.

Adam Mahley, 38, of Bucyrus, was also arraigned on allegations he violated conditions of his bond. He is currently represented by attorney Tom Nicholson in an open felony drug possession case and was free on a personal recognizance bond.
According to Assistant Prosecutor Ryan Hoovler, a white crystal powder found on Mahley is suspected Methamphetamines. Hoovler said it is believed that a transaction over stolen catalytic converters found in Mahley’s car led to the altercation. A firearm was also found in his car.
Hoovler asked the court for another high Bond on Mahley based on the continuing investigation into the stolen catalytic converters and the suspected drugs found on his person.
Motter argued that Mahley, while under investigation for new crimes, was still a victim of Davis. He said Mahley did not fire a weapon. He asked for His personal recognizance bond to be continued.
Judge Leuthold entered a not guilty plea on Mahley’s behalf and ordered Tom Nicholson to continue as his attorney. Bond was set at $75,000.00.
