Officers from five law enforcement agencies, including two canine units, descended on a home on East Rensselaer Street in Bucyrus Friday morning. The execution of a search warrant culminated an investigation approximately six months in length.
Keith C. Williams, 50, of 235 E. Rensselaer St Bucyrus, OH was taken into custody at the residence and was transported to the Crawford County Jail.
A neighbor across the street said, “About time they got ‘em.”
Bucyrus Police Chief David Koepke was in complete agreement.
“We’ve been investigating that location for many months,” Koepke said.
Officers from METRICH, Bucyrus and Galion police departments, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Crawford County Sheriff’s Office executed that warrant around 8:30 a.m. Two trained dogs from the Bucyrus Police Department and State Highway Patrol were on site and did go into the house.
“Two canines went through and indicated,” said officer Chris Heydinger of METRICH and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office. “They’ve got a search team going in and we’ll get an inventory of everything.”
Heydinger said law enforcement officers took one adult male into custody without incident and no one was injured. He added they found what they suspect to be heroin, cocaine and prescription drugs in the house.
Koepke said that Williams was a resident of the house. Likely charges could include drug possession and drug trafficking.
“Other charges are possible besides the drug possession,” Koepke said, calling what was seized as evidence a “significant amount.”
Koepke said in addition to the suspected drugs, cash was also seized.
