BUCYRUS—An Ashland man pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of his community control Wednesday in Crawford County Common Pleas Court.
Scotty Patterson JR., 33, of Ashland, was placed on community control in 2019 after pleading guilty to possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree punishable with up to 12 months in prison.
According to probation officer Eric Bohach, Patterson was found unresponsive due to a drug overdose in March. Emergency medical personnel had to use Narcan to revive Patterson. A drug screen reflected positive results for fentanyl.
Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sanctioned Patterson by sentencing him to 90 days in prison. Patterson is to report to the Crawford County Justice Center for transport to prison by 7 pm on June 15. Patterson will return to community control upon his release from prison.
In other court news, Leslee Baxter, 35, of Bucyrus, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs (fentanyl), a felony of the fourth degree punishable with up to 18 months in prison, and another count of possession of drugs(fentanyl), a felony of the fifth degree punishable with up to 12 months in prison.
In an agreed plea negotiation, Judge Leuthold agreed to admit Baxter into the Prosecutor’s Intervention In Lieu of Conviction Program. If Baxter successfully completes the two-year program, the felony charges will be dismissed.
Shane Banks, 29, of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of his community control. Banks was placed on community control in 2019 after he pleaded guilty to felony non-support, a felony of the fifth degree punishable with up to 12 months in prison.
According to probation officer Eric Bohach, Banks tested positive twice for drugs. Since the original violation, Banks has tested twice weekly with no infractions and continues to work and pay on child support.
Judge Leuthold sanctioned Banks with 90 days in jail. Banks was given a report date of July 15, 2021.
Due to COVID restrictions, the jail cannot offer work release privileges at this time. Based on those circumstances, Judge Leuthold said as long as Banks had no further violations and kept working, he would extend his report date until he could receive work privileges.
“This is a creative way to keep you working and paying that child support. You’ll continue to test twice weekly, and there had better be no more infractions.” Leüthold said.
