CRESTLINE—Clayton Herold of the Crestline Community Development Team informed the Crestline Village Council during their meeting on Monday evening that the group has secured funding to have old, peeling signs replaced that have been in place for years to welcome people to the village.
“Thanks to the generosity of Crestline VFW Post 2920, the Crestline Railroad Community Center and Park National Bank, we have secured the necessary funding for the new Welcome to Crestline signs,” said Herold.
He said even though approval is not needed from the council, he wanted them to know about the project. The new signs are expected to be in place by the beginning of summer and will be located on Ohio 61 and County Road 330 coming into Crestline from other cities, including Bucyrus, Galion, Shelby and Mansfield.
In her report to council, Mayor Linda Horning Pitt said she, along with new village administrator Corey Spackey, met with Richland County Commissioners to discuss the Dollar General Annexation and to introduce him to various county officials in both Crawford and Richland Counties.
She said they, along with council member Allen Laferty, also met with Gary Frankhouse of the Crawford Partnership, and Mike Zappa to discuss the next steps with getting the US 30 and Ohio 61 annexation site ready.
The council approved a resolution to annex property into the village, including the regular annexation of 2.04 acres located in Sandusky Township, Richland County, the property of 3224 Paw LLC, and another resolution to provide services to that area.
The next council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 at the Crestline Village Hall.
