BUCYRUS – The Friendship lane proposed apartment complex was the hot topic once again to start this week’s Bucyrus City Council meeting. Community members representing over 100 signatures voiced their concerns about the proposed project. Mike Castor of 130 Brentwood Street, explained that he spoke to his neighbors on Brentwood and collected signatures representing 100 percent of the residents on the street, supporting that they are not in favor of these apartments. He also explained how he obtained 130 letters of support representing 75 homes in the area. Castor reiterated the fact that the land used to be the city dump. Another resident Rex Ridge of 800 Arrowhead Drive went on to say “ I know you don’t want to dig up or disturb what’s down there (the ground of the landfill)” Economic Development Chair Councilman Doug Foght expressed that they are in contact with the investor for the project to discuss other options available.

Mayor Reser gave updates on the Pickleball courts, remodeling of the pool house to make it more COVID friendly, sewer projects, and an update on road work.

Law Director Rob Ratliff gave updates on the landbank, the Pines Reservoir, and summer movies, which will continue into December.
