BUCYRUS—The Bucyrus Fire Department responded to a fire at 911 Elm St. on Wednesday evening at approximately 7:31 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, a man and two children were already outside of the two-story home and were unharmed. According to the fire department, the fire was contained to the basement and siding above a basement window. There was smoke damage throughout the residence.
It was determined that the cause of the fire was a dryer located in the basement area of the house.
Portsmouth EMS personnel, the Bucyrus Police Department, the Bucyrus Water department, AEP and the Red Cross assisted at the scene.
