The Bucyrus Preservation Society has announced the entertainment lineup for the Hobo Day Peddlers Market scheduled for this Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the T&OC Train Station, 700 E. Rensselaer St., in Bucyrus.

Featured this year is a book signing by children’s author, Erma Kummerer of Fostoria, who has written a book titled “Someday I’ll Ride a Train.” She will have the books there for sale.

Starting the day’s entertainment at 10 a.m. will be Branden Keener, a sophomore at Ohio University and his sister, Ashley, a senior at Bucyrus High School singing the Star Spangled Banner. Also performing are The Lesser Known Poets, Shawn Beal, Matt Hoover and Bucyrus’ own Hobo Band. Included in the entertainment will be a tribute to Arvine Kindinger, a charter member of the Bucyrus Preservation Society who passed away recently, to honor his many contributions to the society.

Hobo Day Committee chairperson Karen Scott says there will also be lots of great food including several kinds of sandwiches, baked goods, and Bob Price will again be setting up his kettle to make kettle corn. Plenty of vendors and crafters are coming to sell toys, yard art, jewelry, hand sewn items, jams and jellies, Bath Fitters, Watkins, Pampered Chef, Avon, Crawford Co. Arts Council and more. Real hobos will be on hand to welcome visitors as well. And Auntie Darla, reader of children stories, will be there to read to the kids. The Lincoln Highway Association and The Friends of the Big Four Depot have been invited to set up a booth to promote both organizations.

Scott says that the Society is inviting the community to attend this Memorial Day event. There is no admission charge and everyone will want to see the progress that has been made to restore the station for use as a transportation and industry museum. Docents will be on hand to answer questions concerning this progress and the plans for the future. Troop 101 sponsored by the K of C will be parking cars with plenty of handicap parking.
