The Board of Education, administration, staff and students of the Bucyrus City Schools were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Bucyrus Mayor Roger Moore May 20.

“I was absolutely shocked when I learned that Roger had passed away,” Bucyrus Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. “He was not only a strong community leader, he was also a strong advocate for education in the City of Bucyrus.”

During his time as a member of the Bucyrus City Council, and Mayor, Moore could be found volunteering his time in many capacities throughout the district, including serving as a volunteer through the Junior Achievement program.

“Under his leadership, we have been able to build stronger relationships with many parts of the city government to better serve our students, parents and entire community,” Kimmel said. “Roger will be greatly missed by many, and our thoughts are with the Moore family during this very difficult time.”
