BUCYRUS — Wynford Local Schools are looking to have special event support for the upcoming football season to help with directing parking due to construction of its new school.

Cars will be parked inside a fence by the field and the district will be painting parking spaces soon. There will be handicapped parking spaces near the concession stand, and that is also where people may be dropped off.

After games, deputies with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office will help direct traffic back onto Holmes-Center Road only, there will be no exiting onto County Road 330 due to safety concerns.

Wynford Superintendent Fred Fox suggests fans get to the school early on game days to try and avoid congested incoming traffic to the games. Wynford’s first home game is Sept. 6.

In other maintenance work, there will be a new gas line put in between the high school and junior high site and CR 330 due to a pipe that started to rot. There should be gas back to the school by late Tuesday, early Wednesday of next week.

Fox also revealed the school’s new phone app to the board. To get the app, people may go to the app store and search for “Wynford Royals OH” and hit download.

The app features live feed, news, events, dining, staff, documents and athletics sections. Parents may use the app to put money onto their child’s lunch money account and may also access Progressbook.

The school hopes to eventually get rid of the call system and send out all district news through the app’s notifications. They are working on setting it up so that parents may pick which building they receive notifications from based on where their child is at.

Brent Buehrer, from Buehrer Group who is working on building the new addition to the school, gave the board members a tour of work that has been done so far. The structure has been laid for all the rooms, with the builders currently working on the gym, which will be roughly 11,000 square feet.

The gym is going up first to serve as a storage facility for parts for the rest of the addition once it is all up.

Fox also said he would like to squash rumors going around the district that school will start late, he said he is “confident school will start on August 21 as planned.”

It was also said the bridge on Holmes-Center Road will be open by the first day of school, with Aug. 16 being the earliest possible date for it to be reopened.
