BUCYRUS — The Crawford County Hazard Mitigation Plan is currently being updated.

Hazard Mitigation Plans are revised every five years because the hazards that affect our communities can change over time. The Crawford County Hazard Mitigation Plan addresses threats from potential hazards and identifies possible strategies and projects to reduce the impacts, protect people and property, and reduce or eliminate long-term risk.

These updates allow Crawford County and our participating communities to remain eligible for pre-disaster and post-disaster mitigation grant programs.

Public participation is a critical component of a successful and comprehensive update. Crawford County EMA will be hosting a public meeting on Tuesday, August 20 in the Lower Level Conference Room at the Crawford County Courthouse (112 E. Mansfield Street, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820). The meeting will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Attendees will have an opportunity to identify mitigation strategies to reduce or eliminate disaster-related losses.

We may not be able to prevent disasters from happening, but we can work together to reduce or eliminate loss of life, property damage, and financial impacts through hazard mitigation planning. Please join us in making a difference in our community.

Anyone who has questions or would like to provide input should contact Kirk Williamson, Crawford County EMA Director, at 419-562-6009 or at ccema@crawford-co.org.
