The Wynford Royals football team extended their season Friday night by defending their home turf against the Gibsonburg Golden Bears in the first round of the playoffs. They defeated Gibsonburg 22-6.
Wynford jumped out of the gates going into the half with a 15-0 lead. The Royals would add another score to go up 22-0 before the Golden Bears would score their only points on a Madison Jaso touchdown run.
Zach Hoffman led the Royals’ offensive attack gaining 165 yards on 32 attempts and two touchdowns. Through the air, Hoffman was 15 of 22 for 220 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Imbody led Royals receivers with four receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown.
With the win the Royals improve to 11-0 on the season and will play Ayersville at a site to be determined.
The Golden Bears were led by running back Jaso who scored a touchdown to go along with 67 yards on 17 attempts.
The Golden Bears finish up their season with an 8-3 record.
Colonel Crawford’s season ended at the hands of Liberty Center as the Eagles fell 28-20.
With the loss the Eagles finish with an 8-3 record.
