Twelve Tiger swimmers traveled to the Ned Reeb meet on December 17, 2016 at the OSU McCorkle natatorium. Galion High School had another day of personal best times swam.
The Lady Tigers placed 10th in the 200 Medley Relay with a best time of 2:07.20 with the following swimmers: Brianna Wallis, Sari Conner, Allison DeNero, and Elise Barnhart. The 200 free relay of the same team posted a best time of 1:53.25 and placing ninth. Their individual swims were as follows: Allison DeNero won the 50 free with a time of 26.63, Sari Conner placed 11th with a 27.69, Brianna Wallis placed 14th with a 27.69. In the 100 freestyle, Allison DeNero was 10th in 59.79, Brianna Wallis was 14th with 1:00.47, and Sari Conner was 21st with a time of 1:01.46.
The men Tiger’s team had the best performance of the day. The team of Caleb Strack, Sam Rigdon, Clay Karnes, and Eli Skaggs won the 200 Medley Relay with a season best time of 1:46.89. The second 200 Medley Relay consisting of Landon Rose, Luke Eisnaugle, Alec Dicus, and Lucas Conner placed 16th in 1:57.05. The 200 Free Relay consisting of Caleb Strack, Clay Karnes, Sam Rigdon, and Eli Skaggs placed 2nd with a season best of 1:35.43 and the second free relay team placed 5th, consisting of Landon Rose, Alec Dicus, Lucas Conner, and Luke Eisnaugle in 1;40.97.
Individually, the men Tigers did well with Eli Skaggs winning the 50 free with a time of 22.22 and winning the 100 free with 49.69. Clay Karnes swam to a personal best in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.15 and placing 3rd. Clay placed second in the 500 free with a personal best time of 5:15.27. Sam Rigdon swam to a 5th place finish in the 50 free in 23.37 and placed 5th in the 100 free with personal best time of 52.86. Alec Dicus had a personal best time in the 500 free with a time of 5:19.27 and placing 3rd in the meet. Freshman Caleb Strack placed 3rd in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.57.
“I was extremely proud of the Galion swimmers doing so well after the weather played havoc with their routine,” said coach Ted Temple.
The next Galion High School meet will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the Galion YMCA pool vs Harding High School.
Competing on Saturday at the Colonel Crawford pool, 15 swimmers swam in the Crawford relays. The boys team placed 4th along with the ladies team placing 4th.
The Galion boys 850 Crescendo relay was won by the following team members: Issac Niedermier. Braxton Tate, Ben Altstadt, and Weston Rose. The same team members won the 200 Medley Relay. The men’s 200 Fly-Breast relay finished 3rd with the following swimmers: Ben Altstadt, Gideon Johnson, Weston Rose, and Braxton Tate. The 400 Free relay placed 3rd: Issac Niedermier, Gideon Johnson, Garrett Murphy, and Wyatt Enders. The Ladies best finished 3rd in the 200 free relay with swimmers Bri Streib, Danielle Schneider, Alexis Link, and Allison Bauer. The 400 freestyle relay of Bri Streib, Allison Bauer, Harmony Lohr, and Ashleigh Wright placed 3rd. In the girls Medley Relay of Harmony Lohr, Alexis Link, Katlyn Kuehlman, and Danielle Schneider placed 3rd.
