Friday’s N-10 game between next door rivals Colonel Crawford and Buckeye Central turned into a backyard free-for-all. The Eagles used a dominant second half rushing attack to win on the road, 39-30.

Buckeye Central landed the first blow on the game’s opening drive behind pinpoint passing from quarterback Grant Loy. Cole Stacklin got the score running it in from a yard out. Stacklin also had a hand in the two-point conversion with a pass to Jordan Herrnstein.

Taking over inside their own 1-yard line after the Bucks’ defense came up big, Buckeye Central made it 14-0 early in the second quarter on a 7-yard pass from Loy to Herrnstein.

CC football 3Colonel Crawford got on the board later in the quarter on a six-yard dash by Eli Reffey. But it was the second half when the Eagles’ ground game took over. Colonel Crawford scored on three consecutive possessions, while the Bucks managed another score, to take it first lead of the night for the visitors at 25-22. Two fourth quarter touchdown runs by Dalton Scott sealed the win for the Eagles, now 5-2 in N-10 play and 6-2 overall. The Bucks are 3-3 in league games and 4-4 overall.

Colonel Crawford scored six touchdowns on the ground and ran up 416 yards on 59 carries and two touchdowns. Will Kirkpatrick ran for 215 yards. Dalton Scott had three scoring runs. Owen Adams intercepted two passes for the Eagles’ defense.

Buckeye Central’s Grant Loy threw for 300 yards and had one scoring toss. Scott Heydinger had 163 yards receiving on seven receptions.

In other action around the N-10 Carey defeated Bucyrus 48-37, Wynford shut out Tiffin Calvert 48-0, Seneca East took down Crestline 55-14, and Mohawk blanked Ridgedale 34-0.

In Crawford County MOAC action Galion beleaguered Fairbanks 41-0. Below is a video of Galion’s first touchdown of the night.
