At the Division IV sectional softball tournament Monday Crestline scored nine unanswered runs and held off a late Monroeville rally to defeat the Eagles 12-8. Crestline advances to the sectional championship game Thursday against Colonel Crawford.
Monroeville scored the first three runs of the game to take the early lead, but the Lady ‘Dogs fought back with a single run in the first, three in the second, and five in the fourth to take a 9-3 lead. Monroeville picked up four runs in the sixth to close the gap to two, but Crestline answered with three in the bottom of the sixth on the way to their eighth win of the year.
Sarah Toy picked up the win for Crestline with nine strikeouts. The Lady Bulldogs had 10 hits in the game with Toy, Caylee Jackson, and Sam Wilhite each having two.
Thursday’s championship game will be played in North Robinson with a start time of 5 p.m.
