WILLARD (Crawford County Now) — The Bucyrus tennis team played its final two matches of the regular season.
On Monday, the Lady Red dropped a 4-1 decision to Willard. The lone Bucyrus win came at second doubles where Mya Rothhaar and Lady Faye McCoy defeated Bella De Lara and Jayda Sterling, 6-4, 6-3.
The Flashes’ Emma Steinmetz dropped Ella Green in first singles, 6-1, 6-1. Evelyn Martinus beat Amirah Price 6-4, 6-0 in second singles, and Jillian Strong edged Lexi Farnwalt, 6-2, 7-5, in third singles.
In first doubles, Emie Buurma and Cora Clark downed Emma Graves and Addie Weber, 6-2, 6-3.
Bucyrus won two of three junior varsity matches. Lily Engelhorn and Kate Brennstuhl won a doubles match, 6-3. Maci Messerschmidt and Serenity Potts prevailed 6-3. Madi Kepler lost her singles match, 6-0.
On Tuesday, the Lady Red hosted Clear Fork and came up on the short end of a 3-2 decision.
Bucyrus’ two wins came in singles. Amirah Price blanked Addi Johnson, 6-0, 6-0, in second singles as did Lexi Farnwalt to Hailee Adams in third singles.
The Lady Colts took first singles as Coralene Cline topped Ella Green, 6-4, 6-1.
Clear Fork swept the doubles matches. Makenna Wuertz and Aly Brokaw defeated Emma Graves and Savannah Clark, 6-0, 6-2 in first doubles and Sophia Wilson and Kailyn Bowman got by Adalyn Zornes and Lady Faye McCoy, 6-3, 6-1, in second doubles.
There were no junior varsity matches.
Bucyrus will enter tournament play on Thursday at Shelby.
