Buckeye Central varsity assistant baseball coach Tyler Pope has been chosen as the Northwest District Assistant Coach of the Year.

Coach Pope was chosen by the Northwest District representatives of the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association. He will be honored at the OHSBCA state clinic annual awards banquet on Jan. 16 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Columbus.

This award is a prestigious honor where only six assistants are honored yearly.

Coach Pope will receive a plaque and recognition in the clinic program for his efforts.

“Coach Pope sets the standard where all assistants are judged,” BC head baseball coach Chad Jensen said. “He is loyal, hard-working, dedicated, and strives to make our players the best they can be.”

Coach Pope began his coaching career at BC as the junior varsity coach from 2007-2009. In 2010 he became the assistant varsity coach, a position he still holds.

“Coach Pope is an integral part of our staff and he has had a huge hand in our success over the last eight years,” Jensen said.

Coach Pope is a valuable member of the Buckeye Central coaching staff and his efforts are being recognized statewide. Congratulations Coach Pope.
