Division III

ROSSFORD (Crawford County Now) — A pair of Bucyrus wrestlers qualified for next weekend’s state tournament with strong showings in the Division III district here Saturday.

Freshman Cam Redmon (126) and Hayden Butcher (215) will hit the mats at The Schottenstein Center, along with several other north central Ohio mat men.

Redmon took third with a 13-4 major decision over Lars Soles of Archbold. He’s 47-3 on the season.

Butcher advanced to the finals where he faced Woodmore standout Bailey Jendrzejak and lost a 17-8 major decision to finish second.

The top four in each weight class qualify for the state tourney.

Mohawk’s Owen Patrizi scored a technical fall over Brooks Hill of Van Buren, 18-3. As a result, he claimed the 144-pound championship and moves to 41-6.

Teammate Kaden Bish (175) also took top honors dropping Delta’s Marcus Nagel 4-1. Bish’s record is 44-4.

Fisher Montgomery of Carey took third at 120 pounds. Teammate Jordan Hertl (157) finished fourth.

Redmen senior Grady Weber didn’t advance but concluded his career with 124 wins.

At 190 pounds, Seneca East junior Jackson Gayheart won with a 6-1 decision over Malakii Pinkleton of Port Clinton. Gayheart has a 44-3 record.

Bentley Gayheart (165) took fifth for the Tigers. Alex Young took third after an 11-3 major decision over Eli Berner of Ayersville.

Division II

NORWALK — Galion’s Gradey Harding (132) took top honors. He scored a major decision over Tyler Turnbaugh of Ontario. That makes the senior 33-2 heading into the state meet, where he placed second last year.

Carter Trukovich took third, beating Bellevue’s Landen Lewis 19-3 in a tech fall.

Tiger teammate Ryder Alberty did likewise as he recorded a 9-0 major decision over Owen Sterritt of Bellevue.

Kane Hay finished fourth at 150 and also qualified. Carsten Branstetter took fifth at 144.

Galion placed fourth as a team out of 47 schools.
