Mary Rebecca “Becky” Herr, 89, of Crestline, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Mill Creek Nursing and Rehab, Galion.
Becky was born in Grundy County, Tennessee on March 23, 1929 to the late Beacher and Lyda (Moffit) Gross. She married William Lee Herr on July 28, 1951 and he preceded her in death on November 25, 1993.
Becky was a former member of the First English Lutheran Church. As a homemaker, she made a wonderful home for her family. Becky loved to be creative and had a great talent of sewing.
Becky had a green thumb when it came to gardening. Once she even made a stick grow!
She is survived by her oldest son, Dale Herr of Mt Gilead and his children, Jacob Herr, Victoria Herr, Ellyse Herr; 1 great-granddaughter, Aleigha Daye; her youngest son, Dennis (Phyllis) Herr of Bucyrus and his children, Emily (John) Williams, Theodore Herr, brother, Albert Frederick Gross of Galion; sisters-in-laws, Melba Gross of Bone Cave, Tennessee, and Joan Laughbaum of Crestline; several special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Lynn Herr and her brothers, Ernest “Shorty” Gross, G.W. “Dug” Gross, and J.E. “Tom” Gross.
Friends may call Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion where funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Jeffry Hubschman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
