BUCYRUS—For Crawford County residents who are not yet registered to vote, there is still time to do so before the primary election on May 4.
This election is a Republican Primary Election with candidates vying for positions in only Bucyrus Ward One. Polk Township and the Wynford Local School District will have special elections.
According to the Crawford County Board of Elections, Chatfield and Liberty Township voters in the Wynford Local School District will go to Wynford Elementary School to vote for this election only. All other areas in Crawford County will not be having an election.
The deadline for registering to vote or for change of address is April 5 and residents can do either one at the Crawford County Board of Elections, 112 E. Mansfield St., in Bucyrus, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until April 2 and on April 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Residents can also register to vote or change their address if they have moved since the last time they voted at the following locations of deputy registrars during regular business hours:
- Bucyrus, Galion, Crestline and New Washington Public Libraries
- Bucyrus, Galion and Crestline City or Village Halls
- Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford, Crestline, Wynford and Galion High Schools
- Any Bureau of Motor Vehicles office
- Crawford County Job and Family Services
- Department of Mental Health
- Any WIC office
- Crawford County Treasurer’s Office
According to a press release from the Board of Elections, under the current laws in Ohio, any citizen of the United States who is 18 or over and who has been a resident of the state for at least 30 days and is a resident of the county and precinct in which he or she offers to votes, has the qualifications of an elector.
The penalty for election falsification is imprisonment for not more than six months or a fine of not more than $1,000 or both punishments.
