CRESTLINE — Amidst the investigation into former Crestline Police Chief Joseph Butler, Crestline Village Council named an interim police chief during its meeting Monday evening.
Jeff Shook will act as the head of CPD until further notice.
Shook previously was on the Mansfield Police Department until 2012 and currently is the police chief for the Village of New Washington.
Shook’s appointment was passed as an emergency resolution effective immediately, stating that his appointment will last no longer than 90 days.
Butler was placed on paid administrative leave on Aug. 30, with still no reason being given by village administrators.
Also, during the meeting, a full-time firefighter and paramedic, Jordan Bittner, and a part-time firefighter-basic EMT, Trent Fontz, were appointed, and have a one-year probationary employment period.
In other news, the Crestline Harvest Festival begins Thursday and will run through Saturday.
On Saturday, starting a 7 a.m., the Crestline Fire Department will host a pancake breakfast. All are invited to attend.
