A weeks-long investigation by the Bucyrus Police Department culminated Thursday afternoon with the arrest of two men on drug-related charges. Bucyrus Police Chief Dave Koepke said a search warrant was executed at 536 ½ South East Street around 3 o’clock.

“For the past weeks there has been suspected drug activity there,” Koepke said. “Some of that evidence was discarded needles at the nearby school and on neighboring properties.”

Koepke added those discarded needles were the most disconcerting thing of all to the people in that neighborhood.

Bucyrus police arrested two men at the time the search warrant was executed. Thirty-nine-year-old Donald A. Fetters was released after being issued a summons on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession.

Twenty-six-year-old Zack Marshall was arrested taken to the Crawford County Justice Center. Marshall is charged with felony heroin possession and will remain incarcerated until he is arraigned on those charge.

Police seized what is suspected to be heroin and marijuana along with drug paraphernalia as part of the search.

Koepke noted the involvement of METRICH in the investigation.

“METRICH does assist us with guidance in these types of investigations,” Koepke said. “We conferred with them and we gave notice to the property owner that if there is further drug activity at that location we will pursue seizure and forfeiture of that property.”
