BUCYRUS — Troopers assigned to the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are scheduled to participate in Advanced Trooper Tactical Training (ATTT). This training is a regionally required update for all Troopers assigned to the Bucyrus District. The training will take place in four-hour sessions July 16 – 20, 2018 in Butler, Ohio.
ATTT consists largely of scenario based training designed to prepare law enforcement to respond to an active aggressor in a public facility. The training includes both individual and multiple officer response to a public threat, decision making, threat identification and tactical movement.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Bucyrus District has partnered with the Clear Fork Valley Schools, who have provided a facility for the training to be conducted.
“Even though the facility utilized for this training is an educational institution, the tactics and techniques can be applied to any public facility, such as a church or place of business,’ said Staff Lieutenant Mike Vinson, Bucyrus Assistant District Commander.
All Troopers receive training on active aggressor mitigation during their initial academy training and receive periodic training updates.
“ATTT is part of an ongoing effort to ensure the readiness of our Troopers to respond to threats, including active shooters,” said Lieutenant Scott Rike of the Bucyrus Post. “The Ohio State Highway Patrol is committed to contributing to the safety of our communities on all fronts.”
