While perhaps not getting near the pre-election attention as the larger communities in Crawford County, township voters also have a lot to decide at the ballot box Tuesday.
All 16 Crawford County townships will elect trustees and fiscal officers. Contested races for trustee will be held in Auburn, Jackson, Jefferson, Vernon and Whetstone townships. There are also contested races for fiscal officer in Whetstone, Vernon, and Jackson townships.
As far as contested races for village officers, incumbent New Washington Mayor Ben Lash is being challenged by Thomas Niedermier, while no one has filed to run for mayor of Chatfield.
Voters in all six public school districts will elect school board members. Only Colonel Crawford has a contested race where there are two seats open on board. Norm Huber is seeking re-election and both Ric Cochran and Bradley McKibben are running as write-in candidates.
