A new name, a new ownership, and a new look are all part of the changes Signature Healthcare of Galion wants to highlight at its open house tonight.
Signature Healthcare LLC took over ownership of the nursing home from Providers Services. With that maneuver in place, the company moved on to a major overhaul of the facility. After fresh paint and new flooring were installed and new nursing stations, fire places, and a dining room were put in, the renovations totaled nearly $1 million. The parking lot was also expanded and repaved.
The newest projects were only the second stage of a four-stage renovation.
Signature Healthcare is working to create a hometown atmosphere for its residents, explained Chaplain Dallas Waggle. Rather than a typical nursing facility, Signature Healthcare is establishing neighborhoods within its halls and is giving residents the control to make decisions on what goes on in their specific neighborhoods. They will also get the chance to enjoy a buffet-style dining rather than fixed menus.
Much of the reason behind the neighborhood atmosphere, buffet dining, and even a certification in a Memory and Music program is to give residents a purpose and quality of life, Waggle said.
Signature Healthcare of Galion will be celebrating all the changes with a Business After Hours and open house celebration today. The open house will take place from 5 – 7 p.m. at its location on 935 Rosewood Drive. A ribbon cutting ceremony will also take place during the Business After Hours with hors d-oeuvres and beverages provided as well as music and program presentations.
Reservations can be made by calling 419-468-7544. The public is welcome to attend.
