CRAWFORD COUNTY ― Nature enthusiasts of all ages are in for a treat as the Crawford Park District presents a series of engaging programs at Lowe-Volk Park, located at 2401 State Route 598, just 3 miles north of US Route 30. From captivating story sessions to interactive experiences with animals and water exploration, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

On Thursday, August 3, at 10 a.m., families are invited to join Miss Chelsea from the Crawford Park District for “Nature Story Time” featuring a tale about Foxes, Coyotes, & Wolves. The delightful storytelling will be complemented by animal visitors and other exciting activities inspired by the week’s book. Should the weather turn rainy, the program will be moved inside the Nature Center, ensuring that the fun doesn’t stop. To keep abreast of upcoming stories and special guests, attendees are encouraged to check the Crawford Park District’s Facebook page for regular updates.

For those who have always wondered what the animals in the Nature Center munch on, “Feeding Day” on Monday, August 7, at 5 p.m., is a must-attend event. Naturalist Lisa will be on hand to guide visitors as they assist in feeding some of the captivating animal ambassadors. From worms and mice to leafy greens and vegetables, the residents of the Nature Center enjoy a diverse menu, and participants can get an up-close look at their eating habits and preferences.

Attention turns to the little ones on Tuesday, August 8, at 5 p.m., with the “Little Explorers: Water” program designed specifically for young children aged 0 to 5. This interactive program, thoughtfully curated by the Crawford Park District, aims to stimulate infants’ senses and develop fine motor skills in toddlers and preschoolers. This month’s theme centers around water, promising a splashing good time with cool water experiments and playful activities. Parents are advised to bring towels and spare clothes, as there’s bound to be plenty of watery fun.
