The Buckeye Central School District’s Board of Education approved its mission and goals for the 2015/2016 school year Thursday night.

With a mission that focuses on inspiring students to be lifelong learners and successful members of society into the future, the school board set school-year goals that put students first, focuses on academics, builds a learning community, as well as being fiscally responsible.

mark robinson 1Superintendent Mark Robinson spoke about the importance of setting a mission statement and goals.

“We want the students, the staff, the community, the parents, the business persons all to be working in the right direction,” Robinson said. “The nice thing about putting the mission and the goals together is that everyone within our school community can work together.”

Robinson said that he hoped to have the district’s mission and goals will be posted to the Buckeye Central website no later than Monday.

In Treasurer Nancy Ackerman’s report to the Board of Education she noted that while the income tax revenue was down $12,000, the drop was expected. Ackerman said that she hopes that the income tax revenue will level off and not drop any further.

The board approved the cash rent agreement with Stahl Farms LLC for use of farmland on the school’s property.

With school opening at the end of the month the school board approved bus routes for the 2015/2016 school year.

In his report Robinson noted that former principal Jay Zeiter is doing really well in his new position as the athletic director.

The next Buckeye Central Board of Education will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the Multipurpose Room.
