BUCYRUS — Richard Javens of Galion appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Thursday, accompanied by his attorney, Brad Starkey.

Javens, 35, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary, a second-degree felony punishable with up to eight years in prison.

In a plea negotiation, Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Javens to four years in prison. When asked if he had anything to say before being sentenced, Javens apologized to the court for his bad behavior at previous court appearances. Javens was heard swearing after the judge set his bond in the case.

“I see today that your attitude is much better,” Leuthold said. “I appreciate you coming in here, apologizing and taking your medicine. You’ve been respectful today.”

In other court action. Devin Hallam, 28, of Lucas appeared in order to change her plea and receive sentence. Hallam pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of drugs, each a fifth-degree felony and each punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

As part of a negotiated plea, Hallam will be placed on five years of community control. If she is unable to successfully complete community control, she will face 24 months in prison.

Leuthold ordered a drug and alcohol assessment with treatment as prescribed. Hallam will receive credit for jail time served. She was ordered to forfeit all drug related property to the Galion Police Department and the Crawford County Sheriff.
