Bucyrus resident Shantelle Dewiel was walking in the Hopley Avenue and Rogers Street area Wednesday afternoon when a man began following her in his car.
“He had no clothes on,” said Dewiel. “He dead stopped his car.”
Dewiel said the man not only exposed himself, but also was physically pleasuring himself. Dewiel ran down an alley to get away from the man but he drove up the next street and caught up with her.
“It started on Hopley Avenue, across from the (Bucyrus Elementary) school. I went down an alley to get to Rogers Street and saw him on the next street, which was Walnut Street,”
Dewiel said. She then lost him but had called the Bucyrus Police Department to report the incident. Another woman described a similar incident in Crestline near a park on Sunday, providing the same description of the man in Bucyrus.
“He was driving a brownish colored car and was older, probably around 60-years-old,” Dewiel said.
Captain Greg Stevens of the Bucyrus Police Department said the man has not been apprehended.
“We are looking for him,” Stevens said.
Stevens said if anyone encounters the man, to leave the area immediately and call police.
“It is always safety first. The things to observe would be the color, make and model of the car and the license plate number along with a description of the man-hair color, does he have glasses, things like that,” Stevens said.
Dewiel posted on Facebook about the incident to warn others.
“I was lucky I wasn’t grabbed. People need to be careful and watch out for their children,” Dewiel said.
If anyone has information about the suspect, call the Bucyrus Police Department at 419-562-1006.
