When voters in the Wynford School District head to the polls Tuesday, they will have to decide whether to vote for a 5.9 mill bond issue for a $27 million construction project to build new academic wings for grades six through 12, renovate sections of the existing high school building and make some updates to its elementary building.

The school district’s share of the project would be just more than $17 million, with the remaining $10.6 million being supplied by the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission.

For a median home value of $107,500, the annual tax increase would be $212 but when the elementary school is paid off in 2024, property taxes would decrease annually by $100.

The new addition will take the place of the current classrooms including modulars currently being used to house middle school students and the need for major repairs to the existing high school building’ s plumbing, electric and heating issues.

The existing high school gym, auditorium and other portions of the existing building will remain to be used as a community center, if the levy passes.

The Crestline School District is asking voters to approve an 11-mill renewal levy for five years to avoid an operating deficit.
