BUCYRUS—If you looked toward the Crawford County Landfill on Tuesday evening around 9 pm, you might have thought you were seeing a volcano erupt.
According to Mike Espino, site manager for Rumpke Waste and Recycling, the small fire most likely originated from a battery.
The Whetstone Volunteer Fire Department responded and remained on standby until the fire (which was put out with dirt) was no longer a threat.
