BUCYRUS—On Thursday evening, several community members gathered at Kiwanis Grove to attend the tree dedication ceremony for three former Kiwanis members.
This year’s honorees were Robert Clark Neff, Doug Watts, and Don Wilson.
Robert Clark Neff, who passed in 2007, was an attorney in town and served as the city’s law director from 1958-1996.
Doug Watts passed in June of 2017 and had been a member of the Bucyrus Kiwanis club from 1978 until his passing. Watts served as the president from 1981-1982 for Bucyrus’ club and as the Lieutenant Governor for the division.
Don Wilson, who passed in 2019, joined the club in 1980, where he was a very devoted member in charge of Peanut Day and the Salvation Army Bell ringing.
Neff, Watts, and Wilson’s trees sit back in the Kiwanis Grove along with Dr. Wenner’s Yellow Buckeye tree that was dedicated last fall.
The trees planted on Thursday evening were a Red Maple, Swamp White Oak, and a Red Oak.
Each year, the Bucyrus Kiwanis Club will honor up to three members with a tree.
