County teams converged on Buckeye Central’s athletic complex for the 2014 Crawford County Track meet Friday.
With 160 total points the Colonel Crawford Boys won the overall event beating second place Galion by 18 who finished with 142.
The Girls’ track and field teams flip flopped with the Galion girls finishing first with 168 points and the Colonel Crawford girls finishing second with 131 total points.
Scoring 20 total points between the High Jump and Long Jump Galion Tiger Alex Armistad took home MVP honors at the meet for field events. Armistad finished first in both events with a High Jump of 5 feet 10 inches, and a long jump distance of 19 feet 7.75 inches.
Wynford Lady Royal Brenna Quinn took home MVP honors on the girl’s side scoring 14 points finishing second in Discuss with a throw of 114 feet 6 inches, and finishing third in the Shot Put hurling the shot put 34 feet 2.75 inches.
Colonel Crawford’s Chelsea Webster amassed 30 points over 3 track events taking home MVP honors for Girl’s Track. Webster finished first in the 100 Meter Dash, (12.84 seconds) first in the 200 meter dash, (26.68 seconds) and first in the 400 meter dash (1:01.47)
Darian Hedges of Bucyrus took home Boys Track MVP honors for his 20 point performance finishing first in both the 110 Meter Hurdles (16.72) and 300 Meter Hurdles
Two County Meet Records were broke Friday evening. Wynford’s Callie Ruffener beat her previous Pole Vault record by 5 inches with a vault of 10 feet 6 inches. The Galion Lady Tigers’ 4 x200 relay team broke Colonel Crawford’s record set in 1991 (1:49.20) with a time of 1:48.64.
