PLYMOUTH, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Residents are dealing with the aftermath of a localized deluge today as heavy rainfall triggered significant flooding across the area, leaving homeowners with waterlogged basements and local roadways obstructed by debris.

The storm, which local resident Miss Betty Rose reported brought roughly 4 inches of rain according to a neighbor’s gauge, caused immediate issues for properties along Marsh Run.

The sudden surge of water transformed local driveways into streams and infiltrated residential structures. Miss Rose confirmed that her basement was flooded as the ground became saturated and local drainage systems were overwhelmed.

Evidence of the water’s power was visible along Marsh Run, where the current was strong enough to dislodge utility poles, floating them from the south side of the creek to the north.

The agricultural landscape also took a hit, with significant flooding reported on the west side of the stream at Nieses farm. However, the most pressing concern for local infrastructure is the accumulation of debris.

Authorities and residents have identified two major blockages:

• Marsh Run Log Jam: A significant collection of logs and timber has bottlenecked the flow of the creek.

• Kenestrick Road Bridge: A massive jam of cornstalks and field debris has piled up against the bridge structure, threatening to block the flow of water entirely and potentially causing further upstream flooding.

Local officials are monitoring the bridges and waterways as the community begins the cleanup process.
