NEWS RELEASE:
GALION – The Galion High School Performing Arts department will present two one-act plays at the Galion Community Theatre Dec. 8, 9 and 10.
Act I, “Law & Order Nursery Rhyme Unit”, is a spoof of the famed TV series using Mother Goose characters, among others, to solve a murder, while teaching kids about using pun-type of humor. Act II, “The Carol Burnett Show Collection”, is a collection of original Carol Burnett skits from her television shows in the 1970s and 80s. These comedic skits were donated for high schools by Ms. Burnett, and test the students’ skills on skit comedy.
“This show is a terrific tribute to popular television shows and one of the funniest female comedians,” said Cheri Laughbaum, GHS teacher and director. “All shows at Galion High School are run by students. Actors, lighting, sound, backstage, and the assistant directors are all current high school students, and they all have worked hard to prepare for this performance.”
Show times are 7:00 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9, and 2:00 p.m. Dec. 10. Tickets are $8 each and can be purchased at the theatre prior to each performance. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9, and reopen at 1:15 p.m. for the show Dec. 10.
“I am proud of Mrs. Laughbaum and the high school students involved in this production,” said Jim Grubbs, Superintendent. “Our Performing Arts Department does an outstanding job preparing our students for their performances. I know this show will be another quality event.”
