GALION—Gary Painter, 50, of Galion was arraigned via video Wednesday afternoon in the Crawford County Municipal Court.

Painter is currently charged with five counts of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor, each count a second-degree felony punishable with up to 8 years in prison.

According to allegations, more than one thousand images in Painter’s possession involve children nine years old and younger. Due to the graphic nature of the images, Crawford County Now will withhold the descriptions presented.

Crawford County Municipal Court Judge, Shane Leuthold, set Painter’s bond at $500,000.00. He appointed attorney Derek Dailey to represent him.

If Painter makes bond, he must be monitored by real-time GPS, have no contact with juveniles, and may not leave Crawford County.

Painter is set to be back in court for a preliminary hearing on April 1, 2022, at 1 pm.

Crawford County Now will continue to cover this developing story.
