GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Galion Community Theatre has announced its upcoming summer production of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” with performances scheduled across two weekends beginning later this month.
The musical features a cast of approximately 60 local youth and young adults between the ages of 10 and 20. Directed by Rachel Robinson, the production team selected the final cast from a pool of more than 120 area auditions. Rehearsals for the large-scale production have been underway since May.
The stage adaptation includes classic selections from the animated film alongside original Broadway numbers, such as the second-act quartet “If Only.” Cast members Payne (Ursula) and Josie (Sebastian) noted that the production is currently entering its intensive technical rehearsal phase ahead of opening night.
Performances will run at the theater on July 24, 25, and 30, and conclude on August 1 and 2. Due to high regional demand, theater officials recommend reserving seats in advance. Tickets can be purchased online at galiontheatre.org or by contacting the box office directly at 419-468-2662.
