John Swain had a 29-year career working for the city of Galion and he is going to spend some of his retirement years doing so again. This time Swain, who spent 17 years as the city’s chief of police, will take on a new role.

Swain was appointed Thursday at Galion’s newest Service/Safety Director. The position was created again when Galion voters nullified the city charter and returned to a statutory form of government.

Swain will take over the post from current Fire Chief Phil Jackson who was the temporary acting service/safety director.
