Firelands Federal Credit Union is paying it forward for the younger generations – literally.

Angie Owens, Galion Branch Manager for Firelands Federal Credit Union, presented a check to Barb Glowaski, Executive Director for the United Way of Crawford County. The $1,300 donation will benefit United Way’s Stuff the Bus program.

The money was raised during Firelands’ summer skip-a-pay loan promotion.

The Stuff the Bus event, which occurred during the first week of August, collected school supplies donated by the public.

“The fact they (Firelands) gave a monetary donation is wonderful,” Glowaski said.

She added that the funds will be spread out among local agencies to purchase additional needed supplies and keep more on hand.

Though the Bucyrus Salvation Army already held a day to distribute the school supplies, Glowaski said, the Salvation Armies in Bucyrus and Galion will continue to pass out supplies. Extra school supplies can also be picked up at CAMP in Crestline.
