CRESTLINE — Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center hosted hundreds of curious families and numerous creatures both great and small Saturday during its annual Animal Extravaganza. The program highlighted various animals native to Ohio, but some more exotic animals also arrived for the festivities.
Crawford Park District Program Coordinator Josh Dyer said it was a special treat that they were able to bring in the Amazon Eric Reptile Show from Cleveland. Amazon Eric introduced families to his special animals from around the world, including a yellow Burmese python and a savanna monitor. Various local pet owners were also on hand with their exotic pets, answering questions about their animal friends like skunks and tortoises.
Dyer said there are more activities planned for the summer through the Park District. On Saturday, August 11, they will host their annual Water Carnival, an opportunity for families to focus on the importance of water in an ecosystem and to have a great time getting wet during water games. In October, the park district’s biggest event, Halloween Family Fun night, will take place. More information about these and other events are available at crawfordparkdistrict.org/programsevents
