The Crestline Board of Education met in special session Monday night to vote on a new contract for certified staff, but that wasn’t the only thing discussed.
The stated purpose of Monday’s special meeting was to vote on a new contract for the certified staff. After a brief executive session for final discussion, the board passed the CEA Contract unanimously.
Superintendent Noreen Mullens elaborated on the particulars of the deal. The contract will be for one year, for certified staff only. It will have no raises. The reason for the short length of the deal is primarily to do with the large changes being made to the teacher evaluation systems by the State. The district wants to make sure that both parties have had time to familiarize themselves with what the new standards would be before a long term deal is agreed.
Also at the meeting, Athletic Director Todd Galownia reported that the district has been made aware of interest from the Mid-Buckeye Conference about Crestline joining. Galownia informed the board that it’s “a league that runs similar to the old NCC,” and “There’s definitely interest.”
Members of this league include Mansfield St. Peter, Mansfield Christian, Danville, Loudonville, and Lucas. Should Crestline wish to switch, the league would be a nice fit in terms of size and familiarity; Crestline currently plays all of these schools except for Loudonville.
