BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A new philanthropic force is gaining momentum in Crawford County as 100 Women Who Care prepares for its next quarterly meeting on February 9. Miki Ziegler, a representative of the local chapter, recently joined “Community Spotlight” to discuss the group’s mission of streamlining charitable giving to sustain area 501(c)(3) organizations.

Founded locally in 2024 after organizers observed a similar successful model in Marion, the group meets just four times a year for one hour. During each meeting, members nominate and randomly select three local nonprofits to present their needs. The members then vote on which organization will receive the pooled donations for that quarter.

“Our ultimate goal is to reach 100 members to provide a $10,000 transformational gift every three months,” Ziegler said. “So far, we’ve been able to raise between $2,500 and $3,700 per meeting, and we are looking to grow.”

To make membership accessible, the group offers flexible giving tiers. While an individual membership is $100 per quarter, women can also form “giving circles” of two people ($50 each) or four people ($25 each), allowing more residents to participate in local philanthropy.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene on State Route 4. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for registration and networking. Interested residents are invited to attend as spectators to learn more about the process.
